Does HCG Contain Anti-Aging Properties?

HCG Injections

Many diets are out there and knowing what is right for you can be challenging. The HCG diet is growing in popularity. Not only can it help you lose weight, but it can improve your overall health. On the other hand, HCG is a growth hormone in pregnant women. It is the same hormone that was found to be effective as an anti-aging supplement as well.

What Is The Process Of Aging In The Body?

Aging is a gradual, continuous process of natural change that begins in early adulthood. During early middle age, many bodily functions begin to decline gradually.

People do not become old or elderly at any specific age. Traditionally, age 65 has been designated as the beginning of old age. But the reason was based on history, not biology. Many years ago, age 65 was chosen as the age for retirement in Germany, the first nation to establish a retirement program. In 1965 in the United States, age 65 was designated as the eligibility age. This age is close to the actual retirement age of most people in economically advanced societies.

When a person becomes old can be answered in different ways:

  • Chronologic age is based solely on the passage of time. It is a person’s age in years. Chronologic age has limited significance in terms of health. Nonetheless, the likelihood of developing a health problem increases as people age, and health problems, rather than normal aging, are the primary cause of functional loss during old age. Because chronologic age helps predict many health problems, it has some legal and financial uses.
  • Biologic age refers to changes in the body that commonly occur as people age. Because these changes affect some people sooner than others, some people are biologically old at 65, and others not until a decade or later. However, the most noticeable differences in apparent age among people of similar chronologic age are caused by lifestyle, habit, and subtle effects of disease rather than by differences in actual aging.
  • Psychological age is based on how people act and feel. For instance, an 80-year-old who works, plans, looks forward to future events, and participates in many activities is considered psychologically younger.

Most healthy and active people only need the expertise of a geriatrician once they are 70, 75, or even 80 years old. However, some people need to see a geriatrician at a younger chronological age because of their medical conditions.

What Is The Role Of Hormones In The Aging Process?

One of the most important factors in the initiation of aging is the endocrine system. Particularly important for women, the endocrine system produces and regulates hormones, which sometimes decline drastically with age. Hormones are chemical messengers produced in organs such as the ovaries, adrenal glands, and thyroid glands. Sex steroid hormones, thyroid, and growth hormones are involved in many functions such as growth, immune, reproductive, and metabolic functions. Even hunger and stress, unlike extrinsic aging, which requires external factors like ultraviolet (UV) radiation, lifestyle, and pollution to cause deep wrinkling and photodamage, intrinsic skin aging is governed by our body’s biological clock. Dryness, fine wrinkling, and paleness are all part of the natural process of skin aging.

Many factors are involved in intrinsic skin aging:

  • Genetic mutations
  • Increased inflammatory signals
  • Decreased lipid production
  • Decreased hormone levels

These hormone changes are now being more closely examined to reveal how important they are to skin health, especially in women.

HCG Vs. Hormone Replacement Therapy: Which is better?

We all have a small gland deep within our brain called the hypothalamus. It is a vital part of the body which controls all our autonomic functions, including breathing, heartbeat, digestion, sleep, and the complicated functions of the endocrine (hormone) system. These endocrine functions include the regulation and control of metabolism and weight.

HCG mimics the hormone Luteinizing Hormone and can be used in certain circumstances to enhance progesterone production in females.

In males, HCG injections stimulate the Leydig cells to synthesize testosterone. Typical uses for HCG in men include hypogonadism and fertility treatment, but some clinical trials support some weight loss benefits.

There are many good reasons to use hormone replacement therapy to boost your testosterone levels back into their optimal range. Maintaining optimal levels prevents disease, keeps up your sexual function, and helps you maintain your weight and muscle mass.
