What is PCT?

PCT or post-cycle therapy is a protocol you will follow after completing an anabolic steroid. Anabolic steroids are performance-enhancing drugs that are used for muscle growth. However, this may cause havoc on your health, especially on your testosterone levels. Taking steroids provides a heavy dose of testosterone. As a result, when you finish your cycle, your body experiences a sudden drop in testosterone.

What is HCG?

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin or HCG is a hormone most commonly produced by the cells that surround an embryo that is growing. Eventually, this hormone then helps to form the placenta after implantation occurs.

HCG helps as a restorative and maintenance agent of testosterone production that it mimics the luteinizing hormone. It allows for the use of these steroids and then the reduction of negative effects because they are reversed. All the while the bodybuilder gets to maintain their gains from using the steroids.

Using HCG as PCT

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is used by the anabolic steroid-using community. It helps in maintaining, increasing, or restoring proper endogenous Testosterone production. HCG doses are best utilized in combination with other Testosterone production stimulating compounds during PCT. 

When is PCT Advisable?

If using any drugs that suppress your natural testosterone production, you can start a PCT protocol after ending the cycle. For SARMs and prohormones, you can start right after you stop taking them. For steroids, wait a week to start post-cycle therapy. Ensure to get the guidance of a qualified doctor to outline a treatment and track your progress. 

How Long Does PCT Last?

If your body is anabolic steroid-free. The PCT will last for around one month to six weeks. However, the result will be dependent on person to a person upon circumstances. You can use this method for several weeks. Naturally, slow-release steroids will take longer to leave the body, so it could be several weeks after the last injection was administered until the body is free of artificial testosterone.

HCG Dosage for PCT

Similar to other PCT regimens, HCG is administered for two weeks after the cycle is completed. You can also use it for up to eight weeks at maximum. Bodybuilders use the HCG in combination with the steroid they are using. The typical dosage of HCG is 500ius to 2000ius depending on their status. Either way, it would essentially work in the same manner and aid in the maintenance of your gains from your cycle

HCG Dosage During the Anabolic Steroid Use

For the purpose of maintaining testicular function during an anabolic steroid cycle, a standard dose of 250 to 500ius of HCG doses administered one to two times weekly should be performed if necessary. 500ius should never be exceeded for such use.

Medical HCG Dosage

Medical prescription recommends 500 to 1000ius that are to be administered 3 times weekly for a 3-week period. For long-term therapy, a higher dose of 4,000ius administered 3 times per week is recommended for a six to nine months period. Following this period, the HCG doses are to then be lowered to 2,000ius 3 times per week for a remaining 3-month period.

Proper Administration and Timing of Dosage

HCG is administered via intramuscular injections, although it can also be administered subcutaneously, which has also become just as frequent as IM injections. Studies have found that when intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of HCG were compared, the results were almost the exact same for both. The only difference between the two methods of injection is the difference in the rate of release from the injection site and the time required for peak blood plasma levels to be reached. Most anabolic steroid users will choose to administer it subcutaneously.

HCG should always be contained inside vials or ampoules as a freeze-dried powder that must be reconstituted with the proper amounts of bacteriostatic water prior to administration. HCG should always be kept refrigerated after reconstitution. Avoid shaking the reconstituted HCG because it will destroy the composition of the hormone.
