Dr. Simeons: Vegetables on the Protocol

  1. As per the original protocol on loading vegetables, you can only have one veggie per meal. Avoid mixing them because veggies do have a different number of calories per serving. Mixing vegetables may increase your calorie intake during the second phase of the HCG diet
  2. Dr. Simeons’ protocol limits the food item in the list and stresses that no variations other than those listed may be introduced. All things not listed are not allowed, and the dieter is assured that nothing permissible has been left out. Avoid eating your favorite salad that contains loads of dressings and other unhealthy seasonings.
  3. Another thing to watch out for during the HCG diet is starchy vegetables. They are not an effective combination when taking the HCG shots. Avoid eating squash, pumpkin, potato, green peas, beans, and beets during the VLCD.
  4. Green beans are not permissible during the weight loss phase of the HCG diet. Although they contain fiber and increase your satiety, they can also interfere with your weight loss. Green beans can also weaken the minerals in your body during the HCG diet. They also contain gas and intestinal discomfort during the very low-calorie phase.

Vegetable Portion

Although there are no specific restrictions on your portion, it does not mean you can eat whatever you want. Maintain a healthy eating discipline to avoid stomach discomfort or overeating. Keep your food options healthy and low in calories. To prevent overeating, serve a bowl or two along with protein and fruits. You can check some recipes online that give you a delicious treat without adding calories.
