What Happens if You Drink Too Much Water?

You cannot drink too much water as it causes headaches and dizziness. Studies show that high sodium levels in the blood can negatively impact your overall health. However, high levels of water and low levels of sodium have a similar negative impact. Consuming too much water throughout the day may experience dizziness and headaches. Maintaining the balance of the electrolytes in the body is essential for optimal health. 

How Much Water Should You Drink During the HCG diet?

The original weight loss protocol recommends 2 liters of water per day. If you experience a quick rise in weight the night after you eat salty foods, you can simply consume a little more water the next day to mitigate the impact on your diet. Note to avoid drinking 2 liters of water altogether. You can have a glass or two per hour to maintain the electrolytes in your body.

  • Water flushes toxins from the body, vital for bodily functions such as sweating, urinating, and defecating. Without water, the bowel will not function optimally, and constipation will occur. 
  • Water reduces the risk of heartburn and stomach ulcers during the HCG diet.
  • Water helps balance blood pressure and prevent kidney stones

How Important is Water in the HCG Diet?

Water is beneficial during the HCG diet as it boosts metabolism and acts as an appetite suppressant.  Drinking water between meals will help reduce cravings and may also prevent overeating by promoting satiety.  Dieters often mistake thirst for hunger or sugar cravings, so before grabbing an unnecessary snack, try drinking a glass of water first.  Drinking water before a meal may also promote weight loss by filling you up, and you eat less during a meal.
