Foods to Avoid During Phase 3

  • Carrots, corn, and peas
  • Bananas, mango, watermelon
  • Parsnips, plantains, and potatoes
  • Yams and most winter squash
  • Sweetened yogurt 
  • Mustard and all salad dressings
  • Glazed meats such as ham
  • Bacon with brown sugar
  • Tomato Sauce with added sugar
  • Honey and agave
  • Processed meats including hotdogs and sausages

Tips and Guidelines

  • After the VLCD, you can include new items from the allowed Phase 3 foods list and see how they affect you. 
  • If you gain pounds, you can do the steak day as the correctional regimen for HCG dieters.
  • Limit or cut down dairy products to allow your digestive system to adjust after the VLCD.
  • In general, any sweetener is fine for P3, but stevia, xylitol, monkfruit, and inulin-based products are the most natural.
  • Phase 3 is an excellent time to prepare for another round or continue to the maintenance phase. If you are planning another round, this is a good time to purchase your HCG kit
  • Make sure you keep portions smaller than the size of your fist or the size of the palm of your hand at every meal and weigh everything on a kitchen scale to keep yourself safe.
  • This is a great time to implement an exercise routine of some kind.  Exercise – be it walking, yoga, weight lifting, pilates, etc. – can help you lose weight as well as improve your health in many other ways.
